SEEKING AFTER GOD’S HEART, NOT HIS HAND!

03 May 2011

Seek God Himself, instead of His blessings — and you will be blessed by His presence in your life.  Those who seek only His hand, or His blessings, strangely live their lives void of His presence.  Those who boast of their “homes and vineyards” are boasting about what God has given them, not boasting about the great and awesome God they serve.

These things reveal what’s in our heart and our true motivation.  Moses was not content with God’s second best.  Neither was David, they both desired God Himself and enjoyed intimacy with Him.  Accepting God’s blessings is accepting second best.  Nothing compares to the love of God. By choosing to be in His presence… He may choose to reveal the “secret things of God” to you.  He reserves that special blessings to those who aren’t looking for anything in return.  Being with Him and enjoying His presence is blessing enough for those pure in heart.

You aren’t fooling God, even if you are able to fool friends and family, letting them believe your heart is pure, when God knows otherwise.  If he seems far away, check the motive of your heart.  It’s not our doctrine or creed, laws or lifestyle that set us apart…it is ONLY belonging to the “One and Only” that makes us distinct in His presence.  A singleness of desire after God’s own heart is the hallmark of the true child of God.
