Self-worth derived from God’s love gives assurance, and assurance gives us the confidence that we’re worthy.  We’re worthy purely because God considers us worthy. This is the only self-confidence that can’t be taken from us.  In fact, it doesn’t have anything to do with us.  It has everything to do with Christ and His performance on the cross on our behalf. It’s not based on what we believe about our self, but about what Christ believes about us. When we turn from ourselves―to Him―we gain confidence! Learning more about your God-given purpose will give you confidence.  The world and people can’t give you confidence, because the world and people change and don’t have it to begin with. True and lasting confidence comes only from the Lord since He never changes, nor does He change His opinion about you.

Godly confidence radiates from within and comes with the assurance of our salvation. It’s unique, and the world is perplexed by it. This radiance comes from God’s purposes and flows out of our intimacy with Him.  Our devoted, passionate relationship with the Lord is the one basic necessity for an effective Christian life others want to emulate. It comes when we spend time in His presence. There’s no substitute for time, as time is exactly what’s required for building quality relationships. God requires our devotion because He loves us exceedingly and wants to spend time with us.  He enjoys us and gets jealous when we spend too much time with other things and people and not enough time with Him.  Don’t you want to spend time with someone who considers you that worthy?

“For I feel a divine jealousy for you, since I betrothed you to one husband, to  present you as a pure virgin to Christ” (2 Corinthians 11:2).
