Whatever brings you to your knees in weakness carries the greatest potential for your personal success and spiritual victory. Paul wrote in 2 Corinthians “When I am weak, then I am strong.” These words bring thoughts of contradiction. How can that be?
Scripture counters man’s natural thinking and is ridiculous to people who function by the world’s system of reasoning. We reason when we are weak, others will take advantage of us and we’ll be in worse shape than before. We strive to stay on top by controlling others and our environment. All of us have experienced the stress that comes from trying to hold everything together. We may look like we’re in control on the outside, but on the inside we’re coming apart.
None of us can escape the pressures of life. Most of us know what it feels like to be hurt, disappointed, and even overwhelmed by the unfortunate paths our lives take. We know the sting of rejection, humiliation, and failure. Regardless of the level of control we may believe we have over our lives, there are always unexpected situations that pop up and catch us unaware. There are just some aspects of life that we must admit are beyond our control.
What circumstances are beyond your control? Is there a personal, relational, health, or financial need that you have? Remember in such times, that in your weakness—Jesus is ALWAYS strong.
